Rand forex signals: USD/ZAR, EUR/ZAR and GBP/ZAR

The rand is one of the most volatile major-traded currencies, and its pairs move more and cost more to trade than the majors. Our engine treats them that way: the same five Smart Money checks as every other signal, with stops placed beyond the 4-hour structure and sized by each pair's own volatility.

How each signal is chosen

Every signal must pass five Smart Money checks — no RSI, MACD or moving averages:

  1. H4 market structure in one direction, confirmed by a break of structure.
  2. A limit order at the 50% equilibrium of the H4 dealing range — buy in discount, sell in premium.
  3. Price already retracing on the 1-hour chart.
  4. Entry below (buys) or above (sells) yesterday's average price.
  5. A liquidity sweep or an unfilled fair value gap behind the move.

Questions

Which rand pairs do you cover?

USD/ZAR, EUR/ZAR and GBP/ZAR. ZAR/JPY is left out on purpose: its hourly range is about the size of a typical broker spread.

Why are the stops on rand signals wider?

The stop always goes beyond the start of the 4-hour leg plus a buffer based on that pair's own volatility (ATR). Rand pairs swing further than the majors, so their stops are naturally wider in pips — which keeps normal noise and the wider broker spread from stopping the trade out.

What moves the rand?

Mostly the US dollar, global risk appetite, South African Reserve Bank interest-rate decisions, commodity prices (gold, platinum, coal) and local news such as power supply and politics. The engine does not trade the news; it waits for price structure to form.

When are rand signals sent?

Between 07:00 and 19:00 South Africa time, like every other signal.

Should I risk more on rand pairs?

No. Because the stop is wider in pips, use a smaller position size so the money at risk stays at 1% or less of your account.
